Sabuh Mas Ceremony in Bali

Sabuh Mas ceremony is held on Anggara (Tuesday) Wage, wuku Sinta. This celebration is based on Pawukon, falls every 210 days or every six months in Balinese Calendar. This is a celebration of blessings for precious metals, jewelry, and wealth.

Hari Raya Sabuh Mas, Upacara Sabuh Mas, Sabuh Mas Ceremony

This is a day dedicated to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa in manifestation as Bhatara Mahadewa as the ruler of all kinds of wealth in the form of: gold, silver, diamonds, gemstones, jewelry, and others. This is a series of Saraswati celebrations and is held a day after the Soma Ribek.

On this day Balinese will make offerings that are placed on the jewelry box, a place to store wealth and jewelry. The owner will check and clean it.

The offerings include: suci, daksina, pras panyeneng, sasayut amretasari, canang lengawangi, buratwangi, tadah pawitra, and reresik. This is a sacred offering filled with colorful flowers and fragrant incense. This is the holy thing to do, not to be forgotten.

This reminds us to always be wise in using wealth. We should always carry out good deeds (asuci laksana) and also not overrule the role of wealth. It is one of the sources of happiness.

This is an expression of gratitude to Bhatara Mahadewa for the blessing and grace of precious possessions and jewelry possessed. If in time God wants us to be separated from the jewelry, we can let go without heavy feeling. The bond with God is the prime, where everything starts and returns.
