Nelayan Beach Canggu Bali - Nice Beach With Many Outrigger Boats and Street Art

That morning I decided to go to Nelayan Beach in Canggu and arrived on the spot before lunch. At the end of the Nelayan Street, beautiful waves and the charm of blue water greeted me. This is a hidden pearl, an arc of dark-gray sand beach with calm atmosphere and peaceful surroundings.

The beach is still natural, not too long and nice for chill-out. This beach has breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, Batu Bolong, Berawa, Seminyak and Jimbaran Beach in the distance. In addition, there are many huts and fishing boats, commonly used to catch fish, lobsters and others.

The beach is situated in Canggu Village, North Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali. This is one among the beaches on the Canggu coastline, precisely between Perancak Beach and Batu Bolong Beach. This beach is easily accessible and less than an hour from Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Drive north to Canggu area and continue on the Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong in North Kuta. Follow this road and take the Jl. Nelayan and you have found it. The parking is rather narrow, possible for cars but better using motorbike, with low parking fees.

There is a small beach café or "warung" at the end of the road, selling food, beer and soft drinks. This is perfect for chilling while filling your tummy. There is also a unique beach shower, just pay IDR 2000 (less than 15 cent) and you can use it.

There are two rivers flowing into the sea and become the boundary of the coastline. When water conditions are possible, this river can be passed by foot to Perancak Beach (east) or Batu Bolong (west).

There are not many activities that can be done here other than relaxing or walking along the sandy stretch. Even so, there is something special that amazes me. There are many street arts and murals covering the walls of the boat huts.

This is an amazing touch of art, and I think this is unique for Nelayan Beach. Almost all of the huts along the coast have street art works, depending on the issues the artist wants to convey.

These are works of art from local and international artists during the Tropica Festival. One of them is the work of Andrew J. Steel, a New Zealand contemporary artist. This work features a pink figure, lying down and holding a bottle.

This line of colorful artwork stretches along the coast. It invites you to hold your steps, enjoy the artwork one by one and bring inspiration to your artistic soul. This is recommended for street art lovers.

This is a local fisherman’s landing coast with plenty of traditional outrigger boats or "jukung" in Balinese. If lucky, you can watch the activities of fishermen in the morning, when returning from the sea bring fresh catches and you can buy it directly at the location.

The daytime is hot, besides food-stall there are only few parasols and loungers to rent (at the west end near the river). There are some visitors who rent it, while others prefer to sunbath near fishing boats.

Maybe tourism activities are restricted for the comfort and safety of visitors, related to the activities of the fishermen and also the need for space to park their boats.

This beach is among the famous surf spots such as: Berawa Beach, Batu Bolong, Old Mans, Echo Beach and Pererenan Beach. If you want to surf, just take a short walk to the spots.

This spot is far from the noise and busy atmosphere that is saturated and tiring. There are no hawkers. The atmosphere is so calm, not so much people and more quiet than the neighboring beaches. The waves here are big and strong so need to be careful.

This beach is also great for your favorite pet. You can also spend time enjoying the waves, cool sea breeze and lovely sunset. This beach is situated on the West Coast of Bali and is blessed with beautiful and romantic sunset. This creates a relaxing feel and rejuvenating your body and soul.
